What’s Good: Jonny Lieberman

Alloy asks Jonny Lieberman what's good.

A lot of people don’t know this, but Jonny was one of the first people who offered support and advice when I realized I wanted to write about cars. He was super kind to me and very generous with his time–but he and Murilee also talked me into buying a Lada that has followed me around ever since, costing me tens of thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours of sleep. So, kind of a mixed bag as far as knowing Jonny is concerned, but he’s remained a good friend through all of it.

He’s also become a great video host and his new channel, Driving With Jonny, is starting to blow up on YouTube.

When I finished the Marino Franchitti entry for What’s Good (chat, are we sure about the name for this series?) I immediately regretted not recording it. Marino’s such an interesting, personable guy and the conversation was really fun.

So, before I did this entry, I got a recording setup together and here we are. I think I’m going to keep asking the same questions to everyone, which makes these about 45 minutes long. Let me know if there’s someone you want to see and I’ll try to make it happen.

It’s charming. It’s VW-derived. It’s sporty. And like early Porsches, it’s from Austria. But it’s not a Porsche.
